Hey Friends! I’m competing in Ironman Boulder this June 9th and I'm raising money for the Ironman Foundation.
Why does this matter to me? Like many of us, I’ve struggled with stress and anxiety for a long time. I’ve gotten a lot better, and training has played a HUGE part for me in doing so.
Training snapped me out of a cycle of apathy. It gave me a goal that was meaningful to me, and cultivated the discipline to chase it. It gave me self-confidence I could wear at all times. It taught me mental strength, how to build on successes, and push through set-backs. It gave me perspective on stress and fear and stagnancy. It gave me community. It gave me peace. It has not solved everything, but it has given me the framework to keep pushing.
I’m trying to raise at LEAST $3,500 for the Ironman Foundation. I want to support the sport and community that has pushed me so far. I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you to consider also giving to NAMI and Active Minds, two amazing foundations that support the research and administered care for mental health.
A bit about the IMF: Since inception in 2003, the Ironman Foundation has raised and dispersed over $50 Million to over 6,300 local, regional, national and global nonprofit initiatives. Just last year, the IMF gave back over $1.7 million to 1,400 organizations and ran 16 services projects including recovery efforts for the Santa Rosa wildfire and Hurricane Harvey.
