I'm running the Chicago Marathon on October 13 to raise $$ for Girls on the Run (GOTR), a great after-school program that I've experienced with my daughter.
I'd love your support for this non-profit with a mission to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident.
A donation of $1 per mile ($26.20) would make an enormous difference.
Or, think of it this way: Isn't it worth $26.20 to not have to run 26.2 miles yourself??
What's Girls on the Run (GOTR)?
GOTR provides girls the opportunity to work together on projects that build confidence and encourage supporting one another. They train as a group after school for many weeks, working toward a non-competitive 5K running event that they complete with a family member or running buddy. I've done this twice (photo evidence above), and I've witnessed the impact that the program has for bringing kids together from varied backgrounds, building confidence and experiencing the euphoria from accomplishing a goal that once seemed beyond reach.
This year, more than 2,000 coaches will mentor 11,000 girls in the Chicago area, and I'd like to help those who might not otherwise be able to participate, since 85% of the girls in the program receive finanical assistance. ALL funds that you contribute toward my Chicago Marathon run will go towards that financial aid.
I promise I will have plenty of time on October 13 to remember and appreciate your generosity, as it powers me through a long, not-particularly-speedy-but-definitely-uplifting jog through 29 glorious & raucous Chicago neighborhoods.
Thanks for your support!
