Since 1953, the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad (TVRS) has provided 24-hour emergency medical services to the citizens and visitors of Henrico County. In the last year alone, our professionally-trained and all-volunteer membership responded, in less than 6 minutes on average, to over 4,000 calls for assistance from our community. Ensuring our readiness to respond to these 9-1-1 calls at a moment’s notice isn’t easy, but it is our commitment and our duty to provide the highest quality medical care when our neighbors need us most. We simply couldn’t do that without your continued support.
Earlier this year, community members like you assisted TVRS with an urgent purchase – a replacement advanced life support ambulance to enhance the reliability of our aging fleet. Because of your generosity through tax-deducible donations, that ambulance was purchased and placed into service this fall. It has already responded to dozens of medical emergencies.
However, it takes more than a new ambulance to save lives every day. In the coming year, TVRS must confront significant operational headwinds in the form of increased medical supply costs, replacement cardiac monitors, and continuing education training for our EMTs and paramedics who are on the front lines of the opioid epidemic and mental health crisis affecting our communities. Your tax-deductible donation to our annual fund drive doesn’t just help us plan for the future, it makes the future of this organization possible.
No patient is ever billed for the life-saving care we provide, and none of our personnel were compensated for the 50,000 hours of time they volunteered in service to our community last year. As we look to 2020, can we count on you to honor the investment made by these unpaid professionals through your financial support? Someone’s life could depend on it.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and continued support of our mission.
