Running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for elite athletes and everyday runners alike. On race day, runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries will set out to accomplish a personal dream by reaching the finish line in Grant Park. The UMDF's Team Hope Energy Life has participated in the marathon for the past 8 years as a charity partner, and we are excited for our 9th year as a partner with this world-class event.
For the past five years I have also dreamed of being able to run and complete the Chicago Marathon. Dominic is my son and has Mitochondrial disease. I started running so that I could be a stronger person to support him as he gets older and as the Mito continues to try to rob him of his gross and fine motor skills. Running the Chicago Marathon would be a way for me to say to him that I am going to be here for him for a long time and that we can find the ENERGY to deal with Mito!
