I am so incredibly excited to be running to raise awareness and funds for research in honor of my tiny but mighty River. River is 6 years old and is a very happy, spunky lovng little girl who loves dinosaurs, art, and Sesame Street and also happens to be fighting a gigantic battle with mitochondrial disease. She was diagnosed in 2014 and has now been completely TPN dependent for almost 2 years. She lights up the room with her sunny outlook and we are determined to give her the best life possible. Our dream is that by joining forces with the UMDF...there will be enough awareness to lead to research, and one day a cure. We believe with the help of our friends and family that this year we will make an enormous impact!
'Though she be but little, she is FIERCE!'
Running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for elite athletes and everyday runners alike. On race day, runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries will set out to accomplish a personal dream by reaching the finish line in Grant Park. The UMDF's Team Hope Energy Life has participated in the marathon for the past 8 years as a charity partner, and we are excited for our 9th year as a partner with this world-class event.
