Miles for Mito! My brother Nick Kissell was diagnosed with an extremely rare Mitochondrial disease called Kearns-Sayre Syndrome. He wakes up tired every day of the week. His sight, breathing, hearing and muscles all suffer and his body doesn't know how to repair itself. He doesn't really remember living without his disease, and research is progressing slowly on how to treat Mito Diseases.
On race day in October, I'm going to join runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries to run the Chicago Marathon. I am sure everyone has a personal reason to run the race, but I'll be running for the United Mitochorndrial Disease Foundation and my brother! In so doing I am raising funds to support thier VITAL research that is so needed for Mito patients. Any donation you would be able to give would be help so much and all funds go directly to the UMDF. Please help us find new ways to treat this disease. Every dollar counts and as a team we can make an impact.
