About Grassroots Animal Rescue:
Grassroots Animal Rescue is a dedicated group of foster homes, in which our cats and kittens live, heal, and thrive until adoption. We emphasize quality in all our operations, including intake decisions, fostering, medical care, and adoptions. Our mission also includes hoping to further wellness information on cat care, especially as it comes to nutrition and declaw. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit.
We rescue cats from high volume Chicagoland open access shelters, such as CACC, AWL, Cicero, Aurora, Naperville, and--more rarely--Kankakee.
We view adoptions as a partnership between families, the cat, fosters, and the rescue. We hope they last a lifetime, and love to see our kittens and cats thrive with their new families.
What's great about the foster model?
All our fosters are truly invested in the process of foster from intake to medical and wellness care to adoption. Cats emerge stressed and grateful from their time being bounced around at shelters, and have time to settle while their personalities develop and clarify. When someone adopts from us, they come to see how they are within the home. We are small but mighty.
Why Do We Fundraise?
All our cats receive the best medical care at our vet partners. They are spayed and neutered prior to adoption, tested from FIV/FeLV, dewormed, vaccinnated, and treated for any illnesses. Over 80% of our expenses are medical. Grassroots Animal Rescue has no paid staff, so all our money spent is related to cat care!
