HELLO my wonderful friends and family!
I am running the Chicago Bank of America Marathon in October! I have chosen to run for a reason bigger than myself by fundraising for the Rainforest Action Network. The RAN's mission is "to preserve forests, protect the climate and uphold human rights by challenging corporate power and systemic injustice through frontline partnerships and strategic campaigns. RAN works toward a world where the rights and dignity of all communities are respected and where healthy forests, a stable climate and wild biodiversity are protected and celebrated." I am proud and honored to dedicate my training and Marathon participation to this cause!
RAN initiates real change! From the article linked below: "In the late 1980s, Rainforest Action Network launched a campaign demanding that Burger King stop importing cheap beef from tropical rainforest areas, and the fast-food chain actually stopped — it canceled $35 million worth of beef contracts. More recently, the organization has targeted Halloween candy made from palm oil."
Donate today to help me reach my goal. Even when the race is over, the fight to protect the climate and uphold human rights continues. Any donation at all will count!!!
