Boston Marathon 2018: Facing Rain, Wind and Cold
Last year’s Boston Marathon was historically epic -- beyond my wildest dreams. Having an ability to finish the race in 30-degree temperatures, two inches of rain, sustained winds of 15-to-20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour, and real-feel temperatures below freezing – was truly a dream day for me.
I am most thankful for YOU and your generous contributions which inspired / enabled me to improve my time from 2017 by 10 minutes (4:50:22) and double my donation goals for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) to more than $10,000.
This year, simply put, I would like to continue my extreme support of the arts with my extreme passion for running and fundraising.
The HCA does the “hard work” of enabling so many wonderful programs in the areas of theater, art and music. As a 501 3 © non-profit, it is solely supported through private donations and NOT taxpayer funded. Highlights include:
-- Visual arts instruction for developmentally disabled adults
-- Music instruction for infants and toddlers
-- Link with public schools as an educational resource
-- More than 200 classes for 1,000 area students from pre-school to seniors
-- Hosts 100s of elite runners marathon day as they await the start times
Running and donating is the easy part. Would you join me in helping to DOUBLE my donation goals this year to $20,000 as I continue to train and try to shorten my finish time by 20 minutes? Aggressive but attainable goals – it CAN be done!
Together, we can give the HCA an unexpected boost to their budget (best part!)
For your part and consideration of doubling your donation – I am offering a one-of-a-kind, soft-sided soup bowl “coozie” as a special thank you gift (see pic above). The coozie is lovingly designed and handmade by Nancy Burdick of Hopkinton. It has a Patriots football theme and makes a great way to keep your hands protected and food warm after taking food out of microwave. I love mine and use it all the time. Get yours free today on this site – just by donating and doubling!
Thank you for your kind support of the HCA and my marathon run.
HCA tax exempt ID number is: 27-2588125. As a reminder, company match programs double your impact and is much appreciated. Thanks so much.
