I have the privilege and honor to run for an impactful organization, Blessons in the 2019 Chicago Marathon. As a white woman in America with an incredibly supportive family I have had boundless opportunities. Access to education has never been a worry of mine.
Through various experiences and interactions with women of all walks of life, I realized that my story is very different than others. Many women throughout America are forced to stop their education early due to challenging barriers such as cancer, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, sex trafficking or being a first gen immigrant.
Blessons is changing women’s lives. Giving to Blessons not only supports free mentorship, educational workshops and higher education scholarships, but it also empowers driven women. Check out Blesson's mission and vision down below!

At Blessons, our goal is that no woman should have to give up on completing her higher education and/or training due to challenging life lessons. Participating with Team Blessons is your opportunity to make a difference for many women who have had to put education, training for a new skill or trade and professional development on hold and now seeking support through educational assistance in the form of scholarships towards an accredited trade, vocational or tech school/program.
Our Mission: Blessons Scholarships for Women provides free mentorship and educational workshops for all women, in addition to scholarships to disadvantaged, low-income women who are 25 years or older and who have had their higher education interrupted due to challenging life lessons such as; cancer, mental illness, physical or emotional abuse, sex trafficking or who are first generation female immigrants.

If you educate a Woman you educate a Family, Community is essential to personal growth and in fostering women as agents of change.
Blessons mission is meant for women who have a vision to succeed in spite of obstacles.The most important aspect for many women is their family. This is especially true if they happen to be older women. For ladies who have taken time to raise a family either before they entered college or sometime after they did, returning to school to better themselves and their job prospects can become expensive in a hurry.
One of the main reasons why many non-traditional female students cannot finish is due to experiencing challenging life lessons including financial hardship. Scholarships for returning students are in need and not many exist.
