In honor and memory of the most amazing person I will ever know, I am running the 2019 Falmouth Road Race with Tedy's Team in support of the American Stroke Association. This will be my 7th race with Tedy's Team since my dad's stroke in 2009. Tedy's Team - founded by New England Patriot great, Tedy Bruschi and his wife Heidi - became a valuable support system while coping with my dad's disabilities and his eventual passing in 2014.
Today I run not only to remember my dad, but to champion a cause that fights tirelessly against stroke and that has helped me and my family to heal when we needed it the most. Please join me in continuing the fight against stroke, in funding life-saving research, and in supporting those survivors and families who are facing their own stroke recovery every single day. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be welcomed and appreciated!
If my dad was still here, he would want people to appreciate that stroke can strike at any age, without warning or reason, and to know the warning signs so that they can get medical treatment as quickly as possible. So whatever you takeway from this post, remember F-A-S-T (which is NOT how I will be running Falmouth!): Facial drooping - Arm weakness - Speech difficulties - Time to call 9-1-1!!!
Much love, Meghan
