My name is Zeena Alzanoon and I’m a sophomore at Granite Bay Highschool. This year, I’m so honored to be a part of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the 2019-2020 Junior Board. Our goal is to raise funds and spread awareness for all types of cancer research to help improve the life of patients and their families. The Junior Board consists of high school students all dedicated to making an impact in the community to help beat the fight against cancer!
I’m so passionate about this cause as it changes the lives of many families worldwide, and this includes my own. Last year I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma; a cancer no child should have to go through. After 6 tough cycles of chemotherapy, I’m thankful to say I’m now in remission. My experience sparks a personal connection with the LLS and their mission. They have contributed nearly 1.3 billion dollars towards blood cancer research and significantly raised patient survival rates. However, there is still more work to be done. Along with the rest of the Junior Board, everyday we stride towards finding a cure.
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. To learn more about LLS, please visit www.lls.org/sac
