2018 marks the five-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings that claimed the lives of three people and injured hundreds of others, 16 of whom lost limbs.
On April 16th, 2018, I will be running the Boston Marathon in honor of the 2013 bombing victims, other amputees touched by 50 Legs Inc., and most importantly, my friend- Katie Eddington. Katie was involved in a tragic accident 4 years ago that resulted in over 20 corrective surgeries and the eventual amputation of her right leg.
Please help me reach my goal of raising $6,000 before my race in order to help other amputees receive the prosthetics that allow them to maintain a normal, healthy, and active life. 50 Legs is a tax-exempt organization that provides amputees of all ages with prosethic legs. Prosthetics can cost upwards of $75,000, and even the most expensive limbs are only built to withstand 3-5 years of wear and tear, meaning they have to be replaced several times over the course of a lifetime. 100% of the donations we raise will go directly to helping amputees who otherwise could not affort the prosthetics and treatment they need.
Many thanks and inspired miles ahead!
