Hi! I’m Shannon. After graduating high school in 1997 I immediately decided to serve our country in the army. I was on active duty until December 2004. During my time enlisted, I served in Alabama, Kentucky, Hawaii, South Korea, Thailand, and Bosnia. Originally running was a challenge for me, as I didn’t excel at it. However, it soon became a great therapy for mentally and physically. I absolutely love the feeling of success, accomplishment, and direction it gives me, and it remains an integral part of my life.
We are still at war. This charity is close to my heart since soldiers who serve overseas face especially tough situations. Those who are abroad are true badasses in every sense of the word, and the experiences we go through are not always simple to deal with. Running is better than any pill offered to me, and certainly one of the best things I keep with me from my time in the army. The feeling you get when crossing the finish line at a race is unlike anything else, no matter how slow or fast. The sense of accomplishment is just electric. It fills my heart and soul.
