Every Mother Counts is helping mothers around the world access essential maternity care. EMC has been using running events as fundraising and awareness raising opportunities. These races are great metaphors for the obstacles, including travel distance, many women have to overcome during pregnancy and labor to access care. In 2017, inspired by EMC's running events, a few Greenwich Y members and friends, celebrated Mother's Day by swimming a 12-hour relay and fundraising for EMC. This year Tribeach (USMS) Club would like to provide more swimmers the opportunity to swim with a purpose and dedicate their laps to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. Please joint the team! Starting at 6:30 am on Saturday May 12 (@YMCA), the swim is organized as a fun, team-oriented fundraiser, and an opportunity for competitive swimmers to test their endurance and strive for the fastest marathon distance - 26.2 mile - swim (1,844 laps) or farthest distance within12-hours. On Friday May 11 (@YWCA) at 6:30 pm the team will introduce Every Mother Counts organization to Greenwich community with a video screening and Q and A session while serving home made cookies and healthy snacks.
