This all started in 2016 myself (Brett Beachler) and my daughter (Katie) decided to take a bike ride from Peoria to Green Bay, Wisconsin. The aim was to grow closer to each other as father and daughter. Not only did that happen in a big way but we also challenged ourselves to raise money for a not-for-profit organization that was near and dear to their hearts. In 2016 we raised over $1200 for Dream Center Peoria.
In 2017 we biked to St. Louis and it grew to 6 riders and over $5000 for Dream Center Peoria.
So this year we want to open it up and involve our friends, family, and business partners to either ride with us or help us raise money for Dream Center Peoria. My personal goal is for my daughter and I to raise $5400.
This is $15 a mile. It allows Katie and I to each buy 1 backpack for each of the 180 miles we ride and donate to Backpack Peoria. Backpack Peoria is Dream Center Peoria's back to school event where they give 2500 backpacks and supplies to kids who would also start their school year behind their peers.
This year we have are riding from Peoria to downtown Chicago. This memorable 180 mile two-day ride is great for a first time family ride or for the serious rider looking for a fully supported ride. Proceeds benefit Dream Center Peoria and support it's mission to impact families living in poverty, starting with youth.
If you want to join the ride sign up at: https://www.dreamcenterpeoria.org/bike-challenge
Otherwise, join us by making a donation toward our $5400 goal. Thanks.
