Let's raise funds for the National Foundation for Transplants!
Last year's Arthur Polar Bear event was so much fun! We just decided we couldn't let this winter go by without doing it again. So we're throwing together another plunge for this coming Sunday, March 4 at 3pm. The weather is supposed to be not-so-polar this year, with a high of 60-ish degrees. But that's still not "swimming weather" for most of us, and the pool will NOT be heated.
Our kids have chosen the National Foundation for Transplants as their charity of choice this year. NFT is based here in Memphis. This wonderful organization promotes organ and tissue donation, and helps transplant patients and their families by providing fundraising assistance.
Each kid who completes the swim will receive a handmade medal, high-fives, a dip in the hot tub, hot chocolate, and snacks. One "swim" for this event means you start from the steps of our pool, swim across to the deep end, and back to the steps. Kids can then get in the hot tub to warm up, dry off and come inside, or do another swim if they wish!
2 Prizes:
- The kid who raises the most funds on Crowdrise
- The kid who finishes the "swim" (all the way across the pool and back) first after the initial "GO!"
We will begin gathering at our house at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 4. The actual swimming event will begin at 3:30pm, so please arrive before then so your kid has time to change if necessary. Our address is 630 W Clover Dr in Memphis.
Grown-ups are welcome to take the plunge, too! We'll go in a separate wave either before or after the kids. There will be plenty of "liquid courage" if you need it. And schnapps for your cocoa as a reward. ;-)
Your sign-up for this campaign on Crowdrise serves as your RSVP for the event, so please sign up ASAP. Once you join the campaign, you can pledge an amount to donate, and then you can share the link for your donation page to family and friends so that they can help out and support your child's participation. Funds pledged on Crowdrise go directly to the National Foundation for Transplants after the event.
