The Lynnport Community Fire Co #1's all-volunteer force is the bedrock of our rural grass roots neighborhood. Ensuring that when an emergency occurs (no matter how big or small), someone will be there to answer the call when it's needed most. As leaders since 1944 we've felt that we need to do everything within our power to assist and support the critical mission to serve and protect all of the people within and beyond our fire service area.
The Officers and Trustees of our emergency agency have made great strides with our limited resources to improve our equipment over the years. We have expanded our services from simply just dwelling fires and lift support calls, to also include forestry service work and pumping stations.
Throughout the last seven and a half decades our mission to protect family, friends and neighbors is exactly the same today as it was back then. When that siren goes off there could be lives on the line.
We have experienced similar challenges, as many fire crews have, including shrinking budgets. Especially this year, due to the complete loss of our entire Spring time fund raising campaign revenues due to Covid-19. We do not, nor have we ever received tax money to support our crew. Unfortunately 2020 has put a dire strain on our already limited resources. We have had to put off the purchasing of much needed improvements to our volunteer's personal protective equipment (PPE). That includes protective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other garments or equipment designed to protect our users body from injury. Which can include hazards that are not only physical in nature, but also electrical, heat, chemicals, as well as bio-hazards, and airborne particulate matter. Each individual crew members bunker gear can cost over $5,500 each
Currently we are looking to replace our late model 1979 Chevrolet C30 Brush Fire Pumper Truck. As well to upgrade our fire teams protective gear, some of which is in excess of over a decade old and worn. This would allow for each of our team members to safely mitigate the dangers that exist when assisting our community and the state in the case of any type of an emergency.
