The Summit Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is TO HONOR OUR STATE’S NEWEST WAR CASUALTIES AND THE FAITHFUL SPIRIT OF ALL MAINERS. We honor our fallen heroes in a very unique way - by LEARNING about each fallen Maine hero, LAUNCHING on a trek somewhere in the world while carrying Tribute Stones given to us by their Gold Star Families, and writing LETTERS back to these families once we have completed our journey. By performing these (3) simple yet ever-important tasks, we can ensure that the memories of our fallen Maine heroes will never be forgotten.
On Oct 2nd, 2019, our Executive Director, Greg Johnson, will launch on a 9-day trek from the summit of Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park to the summit of Mt Katahdin at Baxter State Park in an effort to raise awareness of all that these heroes have sacrificed and to ensure that the mission of The Summit Project can be sustained financially for many years to come.
We give what we can give, humbly and selflessly. We strengthen communities and we change lives. Together we can and will forever ensure that Maine Heroes are NOT Forgotten!
