I am happy to announce I have partnered with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to raise money for their Fallen First Responder Home Program. This program pays off the mortgage for the families of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty who leave behind young children. The Foundation's goal is to ensure stability and security to these families facing sudden tragic loss.
Starting June 13th 2020, in support of the Tunnel to Towers Fallen First Responder Program, I will attempt the world record for most pushups in a 12 month period. The current record of 1,500,230 pushups has stood for 31 years. To achieve the world record, I will need to average 4,111 pushups per day.
To ensure accuracy and transparency, every pushup will be documented in a log book. I will make every effort to verify each pushup by means of video, social media and personal witness to ensure accountability. Video compilations will be posted online as well as pictures of verified log book entries. Verifying over 4 thousand pushups a day for 365 days will be an unattainable challenge considering my full time work schedule. However, I will maintain integrity and reflect those pushups that can not be verified and leave it up the viewer to draw their own conclusions of this pushup feat. Considerable efforts will be made to perform pushups at public events for promotion of Tunnel To Towers and verification purposes. I will consider all requests to perform pushups at police departments, fire stations, media stations and events honoring or paying tribute to these hero first responders.
The effort needed to complete these pushups is small compared to the adjustment families must make to a loss of a loved one. By keeping this prospective, knowing each pushup will improve their financial stability and minimize stress as families adjust to a new reality. I have set a goal is to raise 1.5 million dollars for these families. 1.5 million pushups for 1.5 million dollars. This is a large sum of money, yet the sacrifice these heroes have made and the loss to their families is much larger. I am confident as the pushups add up, so too will the generosity of donations by those who feel compelled to assist the families of these American heroes.
