Two memories will always stand out in 2017: one of my happiest as I crossed the finish line of my first half iron distance triathlon with a huge smile on my face and one of my saddest as Kevin and I said goodbye to Nina in mid-December. Since Nina got me into running and triathlons, I can't think of any better way to remember her than dedicating 2018 to her memory and help more hounds find homes. In 2018, I will be doing two 70.3 triathlons -- July 15th in Geneva, NY and August 26th in Zell am See, Austria.
Nina was my special princess that I will always be indebted to for making Pittsburgh our home. She bounded out the back of The Golden Bone Pet Resort and right into my heart back in Sept. 2009. She got me volunteering and passionate about giving back. She brought Sophie into our life. We did events together, we cheered together, and we napped together. I have helped save other greyhounds from the track because of her. I also have made some of the most wonderful friends along the way because of her.
All of this is why I will once again be fundraising for Steel City Greyhounds. They help to find greyhounds their furever couches without a single paid employee. Each hound is spayed or neutered and gets caught up on any needed vaccines or wellness care before going into a home. And, with each hound saved, a life is changed.
Thank you to all that have supported me in the past and continue to do so. It really keeps me going!
