I am running the NYC Half Marathon on March 17, St Patrick's Day, so I believe the luck of the Irish should be on my side that day. I am running to help raise money for the Migraine Research Foundation where 100% of all donations go towards the research of migraines, a neurological disease, affecting 1 billion worldwide. It is a chronic disease that is hard to understand if you don't experience them, but my mum Hazel suffers from them and they are disabling and restrict her living a full life. She is often house-bound because of migraines in addition to never knowing when one will begin. She has tried every treatment on the market to no avail. There is no cure for migraines but new drugs and therapies can help provide some relief, and the more research that can happen, the more we might discover about this disease to help migraine sufferers.
