Ten years ago, my Uncle Douglas was diagnosed with cancer. He fought like the “real man” he was but lost his battle in 2013. Unfortunately, this same story continues to wreak havoc on the lives of so many families. Cancer is an awful disease. It takes away much more than the body part it affects. Fighting it takes a lot for the patient AND their family. It takes faith, it takes courage, it takes love and it shouldn’t be this way, but it also takes money!
We may be a long way from ending this fight, but we are closer than we have ever been. Each year, more and more cancer patients are able to receive life-saving treatments, new medications to ease symptoms, help with navigating medical options, and financial support. These modern advances are great, but we are still losing too many people.
I want to support the American Cancer Society because they offer support to so many. I hope you will join me in this campaign by sending $10 to the ACS using the donate button in memory or support of your loved one. Then post, or share with 10 of your friends. The link will be active for 10 days and will close on April 18.
I hope that next year, we can get together to increase awareness with a fun event that honors my uncle and others that we have lost. Every life is precious and worth saving!
