NYC ICO 2015 HIKE-A-THON
Let's explore the natural outdoors of NYC! Even within the concrete jungle, we can find the sites and sounds of nature. Sierra Club's Inspiring Connections Outdoors group will traverse the hiking grounds within Van Cortlandt park during the 2015 Hike-A-Thon.
Sponsor one of our young hikers and support this long-running education program, dedicated to the unity and development of our youth.
Location: Van Cortlandt Park (west entrance to the park located next to the 1 Train)
Time: 10am to 4pm
We will explore the foot trails in small groups throughout the morning and early afternoon, then convene on the Parade Grounds for lunch and group games and activities.
About the program:
Throughout the year Sierra Club's ICO program works with 10 different partner agencies across NYC to bring students on exciting and enriching trips into the outdoors. The Sierra Club ICO Hike-a-thon is the one event each year where all 10 agencies and all volunteers come together for a day of celebrating the outdoors and community, and help fund the incredible trips we go on all year round. This will be a day of hiking, food, games and get to know all of our partners and volunteers!
Your donation to benefit the New York City Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) program will go to The Sierra Club Foundation, fiscal sponsor of the Sierra Club’s charitable environmental programs.
