For 22 years, the NYC Center for Black Pride has provided programming and events to ensure Cis and Trans Individuals that identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender or Queer (the LGBTQ Community) have access to services towards ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic and Health disparities. The NYC Center for Black Pride is a certified 501c3 organization based in New York, NY led by Executive Director: Lee Simmons. Its mission is to open an LGBTQ Center which would house and display LGBTQ historical artifacts & archives and continue presenting programming and events that connect the community to services. We strongly believe to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic, it is imperative that specific spaces are created and funded to provide safety (safe spaces), cultural & historical information pertinent to the LGBTQ Community, sexual health education, and linkage to holistic health care resources for the LGBTQ Community. The NYC Center for Black Pride offers three core programs: (1) The annual NYC Black PRIDE festival; (2) The Black Pride Arts Festival; and (3) Perspectives: A social support group.
