The Northern California Community Blood Bank (NCCBB) was established in 1951 to provide a safe and adequate supply of blood to the patients we serve. In our 68 year history, we have grown into a blood center that provides blood products for our local community and beyond. We have a fixed site location in Eureka, and three bloodmobiles that travel throughout Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
Bloodmobiles allow us to reach a donor base that may not donate otherwise, and have the highest percentage of new blood donors. It is our wish to replace our 2002 Bluebird bus with a new bloodmobile.
A bloodmobile is a large capital expense. We intend to pursue a combination of grant funding, community donations, and use of our savings to purchase this bloodmobile. Our new bloodmobile will be maintained as exceptionally as its predecessor. The 2002 Bluebird bus has been a workhorse, and has been on the road for over 17 years. We are looking forward to keeping the investment of a new bloodmobile around for the next 20 years.
