Hi Family & Friends! I am honored to say that I am one of 8 students chosen to represent Northeastern Nursing on a medical missionary trip to Nicaragua this March through a wonderful organization called Corner of Love. The School of Nursing will carry out four medical-dental clinics in rural, mountainous communities where families survive on less than $1 U.S. per day and most lack basic needs like clothing, potable water, and medicine. Each day we’ll pack our supplies, load them onto trucks and buses, and venture out to set up these mobile clinics that offer stations like height and weight, visual acuity, general medicine, dental care, pharmacy, clothing, family counseling station, and more.
This being said, many of you know that my first degree is in Public Health so going on a trip like this and being able to serve others has always been a dream of mine. Over the next few months I will be collecting items to fill two 50 pound bags with items such as used clothes, shoes (no winter items), vitamins, over the counter medications, toothbrushes, toothepaste, travel size shampoo, body wash etc. Lastly, I would greatly appreciate any donations to help make this trip a reality!
