Family and Friends,
I am currently studying nursing at Northeastern University. I was selected as 1 of 8 students to represent Northeastern University on a trip to Nicaragua through a company called the Corner of Love. I helped to create this special program which aligns with our Public Health course by working with the Director of my program and the Global Experience office. This medical mission trip will take place in March as part of a ten day international experience in global healthcare. We will carry out four medical-dental clinics in rural, mountainous communities where families survive on less than $1 U.S. per day and most lack basic needs like clothing, potable water, and medicine. Each day we’ll pack our supplies, load them onto trucks and buses, and venture out to set up these mobile clinics that offer stations like height and weight, visual acuity, general medicine, dental care, pharmacy, clothing, family counseling station, and more. One day of clinic will also be held at Corner of Love's facility, Plaza de Bondad on La Lima River (one kilometer from our Quinta).
Before leaving I will need to fill two 50 pound bags with supplies! I am asking for donations of the following:
- Gently used, laundered clothing (any size- no winter clothing)
- Gently used shoes (any size)
- Over the Counter Medications
- Travel Size:
- Body wash
- Mouth wash
- Hand sanitizer
Thank you for your help!! I would really appreciate if each of you could share this.
