Hello Family and Friends!
I am so excited to let everyone know that I was selected as 1 of 8 students to represent Northeastern University on a medical mission trip to Nicaragua this March through a wonderful organization called Corner Of Love (http://corneroflove.org/). This specialized team with students and faculty from the School of Nursing will carry out medical-dental clinics in rural, mountainous communities where families survive on less than $1 U.S. per day and most lack basic needs like clothing, clean water, and medicine. Each day we’ll pack our supplies, load them onto trucks and buses, and venture out to set up these mobile clinics that offer stations like height and weight, visual acuity, general medicine, dental care, pharmacy, clothing, family counseling station, and more. I am so incredibly excited to be culminating my wonderful experiences in nursing school with this life changing opportunity!
Before leaving I will need to fill two 50 pound bags with items for donation! This can include:
- Gently used, laundered clothing (any size- no winter clothing, please!)
- Gently used shoes (any size)
- Over the Counter Medications
- Travel Size:
- Body wash
- Mouth wash
- Hand sanitizer
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and I don't mind coming to pick things up!
Additionally, the cost of the trip is $1300 plus airfare. I will be spending the next three months fundraising to help me cover the cost of the trip! I sincerely appreciate anything anyone is willing to give!! Every little bit helps!! Thank you all so much in advance!!
All the best,
