BENEFITING: Good News Project, Inc.
Each 12'x16' house we build in the West Indies costs us $4200 US in materials and transportation. We can build up to 15 houses but as the cost of supplies increase, our little houses have become more difficult to fundraise. The labor to build is DONATED by volunteers. Each family who receives a house has a story. I would like to tell you the story about Sylvia and Veiel.
Sylvia & Veiel Boville live in the West Indies (St. Lucia to be exact). Their home experienced a fire a little over a year ago and yet they have no choice but to continue living here. They do not have adequate walls surrounding them; at least not walls that will keep out the wind and rain. The roof has a gaping hole in it.
Veiel struggles getting around on a partially amputated leg due to his diabetes. Their need for dignified housing was presented to our volunteers in mid-February by the Missionaries of Charity in St. Lucia.
Sylvia and Veiel are very much in love and very happy despite their living conditions. They live on 100ec per week (approximately $37 per week) given to them by their grown son.
We want to build 15 more homes in the next 11 months for Sylvia and Veiel and for families in similar (and often desperate) situations. Everyone deserves clean safe housing. Good News Volunteers can build the houses (by donated their time, resources and vacation days to get there)...can you help us fundraise enough to build these simple homes for the poor?
