The New Jersey State Museum Foundation was founded in 1968 as a non-profit 501(c)3 to support the Museum's collections, exhibitions, programs and research through fundraising, volunteerism, advocacy and marketing. In recent years, the Foundation has received generous support from the PNC Foundation, NJM Insurance Group, Department of State/New Jersey Historical Commission, The Henry Luce Foundation, the James Kerney Foundation, and the Princeton Area Community Foundation. Membership is a principal program of the Foundation. While admission to the Museum is free, members receive discounts on programs, events, planetarium tickets, and purchases in the Museum Shop, as well as invitations to members-only activities. The Foundation is proud to participate in a number of the reciprocal benefit programs that provide our members with access to thousands of museums and science centers throughout the world. The Foundation also operates the Museum Shop which sells merchandise related to the Museum's exhibitions and collections, as well as New Jersey history and culture. Proceeds from the Museum Shop support the New Jersey State Museum.
