BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
EVENT: Celebrate with IRC
THE STORY:
My name is Natasha Kozaily and I am the artist behind Natula and co-owner of Kalabash School of Music + the Arts in San Diego.
I’m a third culture kid from the Cayman Islands, with Lebanese roots now residing in California. As a result of my multi-cultural upbringing, my cultural identity has always been quite complex and sometimes hard to explain to myself and others. I call my music “third culture pop” because exploring this problem and celebrating it through music is exactly what I love to do.
Who am I? Where did I come from? Where am I going?
It’s questions we all ask ourselves at some point in our lives. For me these ideas have always been at the forefront of my personal journey. And I have been fortunate enough to explore these landscapes through my art and freedom. Others are not so lucky. Right now there are millions of Syrian Refugees who don’t know what the future holds for themselves or their children.
What will be left of the place they called home? And where will they call home now?
For my 30th golden birthday I embarked on this world tour of house concerts with the goal of raising $30,000 for the Syrian Refugee Crisis. You can follow the journey at www.thegolden30.com where 100% of all donations online and in person go towards the International Rescue Committee and all their important efforts around the world.
