It's that time again!
Please join our family in an effort to raise $2500 for the Down Syndrome Network of Arizona. We had a great and challenging year with our baby Owen. As many of you know towards the end of last year he developed rare and hard to treat seizures. We were terrified and our world was shaken once again! Thankfully he responded well to treatments and after a couple of trips to UCLA medical center his seizures were under control. He regressed so much in such short amount of time. We had to teach him to roll over again at the age of 7 1/2 months. He went weeks without smiling and those of you who know him well know he smiles tons. He's back on track now and progressing well, sometimes it feels like forever, but that's one lesson Owen teaches us regularly- patience. We once again reflect on this year and are thankful for the lessons we have learned, the compassion we have felt, the patience that has been forced upon us, and the perspective that we've gained. We are always looking to pay it forward as much as we can.
This year I was asked by the Down Syndrome Network to join their board of directors. I am honored, and challenged to make a difference in my son's life and the world around him. The DS Network has provided me with a society that provides education, support and advocacy for those with Down Syndrome. I accept the challenge to change the views of those around Owen and educate those that know nothing about someone with Down Syndrome...but we need your support.
We as a team will be doing fundraising events to include dinners, lemonaide stands (courtesy of the Huffaker sisters) and a yogurt fundraiser again. We hope you will come out and support our team and overflow my heart and humble us as you did last year. We also hope you will support with your donations your money goes directly to the education workshops, new parent support groups, and community functions.
We thank you for supporting an organization that is so dear to our heart. Our family and all the families in AZ with family members with Down Syndrome thank you!
