BENEFITING: National Stroke Assn.
ORGANIZER: National Stroke Assn.
I lost my husband and father of my children at the young age of 56 to a stroke. I always felt you could let devastating experiences change your life for the worse , or you could be inspired by tragedy to prevent others from suffering the same fate. Thankfully I was surrounded by others who inspired me, and through their support we have created a stroke education fund . When you lose a love one, that first step forward is so difficult to make. The same goes for someone that is recovering from a stroke. Not ever being a runner , I decided to challenge myself and take a step forward by entering the New York Marathon under the National Stroke Association. A step in the marathon is so small compared to the steps others are taking each and every day but my hope is that this 26.2 mile challenge shows my commitment and my hope that others will join me in this critical fundraising effort.
