EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
Hi everyone! My name is Adam and this year I turned 30 years old. Reaching this small milestone in my life I wanted to do something that I have never done before. I had a desire to not only achieve a personal life long goal, but also wanted to do something that would make a difference in someone else’s life. 15 years ago I was fortunate enough to meet my future father-in-law Dave. Dave is one of the nicest guys I know. He’s patient, kind, a great father to my amazing wife, and a wonderful grandfather to my little girl. Dave unfortunately suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis or MS is an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to eat away at the covering of the nerves, which disrupts communication between the brain and body. Currently there is no cure for MS, however the National MS Society is a charity that works to accelerate research in order to find a cause and cure. They also help to network people who are currently living with MS and aid in support for those people who need it. In order to help raise money for a charity that has personally helped my family, I am running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon for the first time. I will be running it for the MS Society, for my Father in Law, and for everyone out there who suffers from MS in order to raise awareness. I encourage anyone who is willing to please donate to my 'Dash for Dave'! A small contribution for this great cause can go a long way.
