BENEFITING: The National Military Family Association
EVENT: Veterans Charity Challenge 2
THE STORY:
Military families are the strength of our servicemen and women. Spouses often sacrifice their own ambitions to support their service members, who are the backbone of this Nation. More than 2 million children have struggled with a parent’s deployment—often leaving them with deep, emotional scars that don’t disappear when the service member returns. For 45 years, the National Military Family Association has been the leading nonprofit organization (501 (c)(3)) committed to supporting the families of the currently serving, wounded, survivors, and retired. Our services include retreats for wounded service members and their families, summer camps for the children of those deployed, and educational scholarships for spouses have significantly improved military family lives.
A letter to you from Major General Bruce K. Scott:
Dear Friend,
Strong military families are what let our brave men and women in uniform serve in harm’s way without worrying about loved ones back home. Years ago, when a service member enlisted there was little concern for the family. Spouses were left to fend for themselves and raise their children without help. 45 years ago, a group of military spouses banded together to change this—by starting the National Military Family Association.
Having personally served our Nation for more than 30 years, and now having six children and spouses who’ve seen seven combat deployments, I have seen first-hand why this Association is so important. Whether organizing free summer camps for children of deployed service members, providing scholarships to military spouses who’ve put their careers on hold, or making sure the military family voice is heard by Congress—National Military Family Association is there.
There are many outstanding organizations that focus on returning warriors. This Association acts with laser focus on behalf of the families of these warriors, in all uniformed services.
Won’t you join me in making sure military families get the help they deserve? Your gift of whatever you can afford will make a big difference and be deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Bruce K. Scott
