"Love is at the core of everything that NAMI Maryland does. Love embodies commitment and dedication. So for every effort, for every support group, for every advocacy program, and for every phone call we answer, we know that love is what motivates us to help families and individuals affected by mental illness. Love is what drives our staff, interns, and volunteers to spend long hours making our mission possible. Love is what enables us to carry out our mission every day, and love is the reason we continue to do it."
With your donation, NAMI Maryland and NAMI affiliates around the state can continue to offer our free education and support programs around Maryland and to carry out our mission.
Our passion and promise.
It is our core principle that empowering family members and consumers is a critical factor in recovery, and a potent force in providing community education and bringing about systemic change. NAMI Maryland is a unifying voice and a skilled provider of knowledge and skills at the grassroots level. NAMI Maryland promises to work to build better lives for Marylanders affected by mental illness.
NAMI Maryland encompasses a strong statewide network of more than 20,000 families, individuals, community-based organizations and service providers. These members and supporters are the face and voice of the NAMI Maryland movement--families, individuals, friends and businesses--who come together to celebrate mental illness recovery, to honor those who have lost their lives to mental illness and to combat stigma, promote awareness and advocate for others.
We provide public education workshops, teleconferences on specific issues, and carry out an ongoing campaign and public policy agenda to improve mental health services throughout the state, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and support effective treatment and recovery programs.
The mission of NAMI Maryland is to improve the quality of life for individuals with severe mental illnesses and their families. We are dedicated to providing education, support and advocacy for persons with mental illnesses, their families and the wider community.
