I have joined a team of ladies who don't totally love running, but love the cause they're running for. It's time to buckle down and finally reach the 5k goal - and what better reason than to raise awareness for our shared genetic disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia.
That's such a mouthful, so we call it FH. FH is an inherited disorder that, left untreated, leads to aggressive and premature cardiovascular disease.
It is estimated that 1 in every 250 people have FH, but 90% of them are undiagnosed. They are missing out on the critical knowledge and treatment that could save their lives.
That's why we're all participating in the Race for FH. On September 24th in honor of FH Awareness Day, we will each run our very first 5k to raise funds for the FH Foundation! I want to help fund research, spread awareness and advocate for people with FH - especially the people who don't know they have it. These are your friends, your neighbors, and could even be in your own family.
I hope you will support my efforts by making a donation today.
