"Many in churches sing 'The Lord Hears The Cry Of The Poor—Blessed Be The Lord.' However, I believe it is more important that God’s People not just hear those cries but are moved to respond to them. That is what good people do, isn’t it? That is why Olancho Aid exists."

~Father Richard T. Donahue

This summer, from July 17-24, a group of us from St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, Tennessee hope to do just that: hear the cry of the poor during a mission trip to Honduras and help them. We are the hands and feet of God, but we need your help to provide for them.

The Olancho Aid Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit, faith-based organization that empowers Honduran youth to transform themselves, their communities, and their country through education. From special needs to bilingual classrooms, their team of international volunteers and Hondurans are dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing an environment that stimulates intellectual and spiritual growth and fosters independent thinking.

Mission Honduras is a new ministry at St. Philip Catholic Church and we will be working in partnership with Olancho Aid. We have already paid for our mission trip expenses. That's not what this is about. Rather, we need must fund our own project in Honduras. The need is so great there and projects range from building outhouses to environmental cleanup projects to providing much needed water filtration systems. Our group has it on our hearts to build this filtration system in a region where polluted and contaminated water account for a great majority of the disease and health problems. It is the most expensive project option for us though, coming in at $10,000. We currently have about $2,000 in funding.

We have faith, though, that through friends, family, and ANYONE who wants to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate we will reach our goal.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to help. All donations are 100% tax deductible. If you are unable to give financially, please know that we greatly appreciate your prayers. They mean more to us than anything.

The St. Philip Mission Honduras Team

"Sacred Scripture continually speaks to us of an active commitment to our neighbor . . . This duty is not limited to one's own family, nation or state, but extends progressively to all . . . so no one can consider himself extraneous or indifferent to the lot of another member of the human family"

~Blessed Pope John Paul II
