Hi, my name is Mike Cusic and I started working out at George Foreman’s the Club a little over a year ago and quickly developed a love for the sport of boxing. There are a lot of things that appeal to me about boxing and what it takes to get ready for a fight. The commitment, dedication, focus, and patience required to train mentally and physically to step into the ring with someone is a huge undertaking that involves many of my core values. Not only in the ring but also outside, these four values are paramount throughout life and when applied correctly can help a person conquer any goal they put in front of them. When it comes to fighting against cancer a person will need these core values to get through the tough battle ahead of them to come away victorious.
These days it’s rare to meet anyone that has not been affected by cancer in some way. Whether it be friends or family (both in my case) it’s amazing to me that with all the research and funding already put in place we still have not found a cure or made significant strides in beating this disease for good. My goal in this competition is to help those already fighting and to help those who may not be able to fight for themselves including children. With 15,000 children getting diagnosed with Cancer per year it’s almost unbearable to think of how many little kids are going through this battle. It’s for this reason that all of my fundraising proceeds will go towards child’s cancer research through The Dana Farber Cancer Insitute.
My philosophy on life is that the glass is always half full and you need to have a positive outlook on everything. Maybe we’re really close to a cure and all it takes is a few more dollars to get there! I’m willing to put my body on the line for that, are you? Support me in this fight and I’ll take the blows and deal out the punishment to finally KO cancer for good!
