Mikaela's School Trip
Organized by: Lisa Bessasparis
EVENT DATE Jun 07, 2016
I am fundraising for my 15 year old daughter Mikaela's Spanish class trip to Costa Rica in June 2016. Quite frankly, I did not want her to go on this trip...it's scary for a parent knowing their child will be out of the country and so far away. My daughter is a blessing. She is respectful and kind to others and not easily influenced by her peers. She's always done well in school. Recently, she founded a teen birding club at her high school. She's turning out to be a fine, upstanding young lady so I think it's time I let her learn to fly without me. Letting her go on this trip would mean the world to her. She loves learning about other cultures and enjoys experiencing new things. She would love seeing the exotic birds of Costa Rica and plans on sharing a presentation about them with her club and our local Audubon Chapter. If we can raise enough money, she can even take this trip for college credit. She'll be working on her own fundraising over the months. She's also been applying for jobs but it's very hard to get a job when you are only 15. Most place require teens to be 16 before they will hire. I've always been the only parent involved so money is tight (we are not lacking anything, we just don't have excess) and I am putting away what I can for her but it seems like an impossible goal to reach by myself. We would both appreciate any donations. I would also welcome advice on fundraising for a trip like this.
(I have no Facebook page -believe it or not- and I don't really want to get one.)
