BENEFITING: Variety - The Children’s Charity of B.C.
Mihai Covaser wrote -Mihai has cerebral palsy, and with funding support from Variety, received an adapted bicycle which helped him to exercise and strengthen his muscles. He later learned to walk independently which was only the first of his many victories. Mihai is a natural public speaker who lives life with a positive spirit and inspires everyone who knows him. Here is what he says about his mission: "Behind every person there is a story and achievements worth celebrating. For children with special needs and their families, these stories are mostly of survival. It’s true that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and these families choose to show what they CAN do rather than what they cannot do, as they manage to finally take pride in their achievements of epic proportions. That is my case, too. I might have CP, but I have chosen to work around it, rather than for it. I do sports like Taekwondo , sit skiing, I swim, ride horses, chase my little brother...oops! anyway, I also excel in school, attend regular field trips, and play two instruments! I also know that there are kids with special needs for whom this can be a lot more complicated, and requires a lot of support. So, because it is pretty hard to miss me as I'm moving around, I used my personality to help Variety by fundraising, and all the others champions help in their own way, too. I, along with most other champions, participated in all the events Variety has used with this purpose and we do a lot of our own fundraising, as well." "Being Variety's ambassador never felt like work or like an effort waiting to be rewarded. It's just become an everyday thing, like going to school, or doing after-school activities at this point. Just like living with my disability. I don't really think about it, just build a nice routine and keep at it with commitment." Help Mihai help more kids who have special needs by donating today. Together we can make a difference!
