Mid Michigan Community Action is a private non-profit serving low-income families in Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Mecosta, Midland, Muskegon, Oceana, and Osceola Counties.
Formed as a part of President Johnson’s War on Poverty, Mid Michigan Community Action Agency began in 1966 as a buyer’s club program in Mecosta County called SixCAP. Today, it is a regional social service organization, providing assistance for low to moderate-low income individuals and families in 18 counties throughout central Lower Michigan. Mid Michigan Community Action offers basic needs services, early childhood education services, and housing programs to alleviate crises, provide resources, and empower community members towards self-sufficiency.
