Mental Health America in Montgomery (MHA-M), a local affiliate of Mental Health America, is concerned with all aspects of mental illness and mental health. Founded in 1951, the agency educates, advocates, promotes mental health and assists those with mental illness to learn community living skills and work toward recovery.

The work of Mental Health America in Montgomery is driven by a commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness including prevention services for all, early identification and intervention for those at risk and integrated care and treatment for those who need it with recovery as the goal. The programs offered are: (1) Psychosocial Clubhouse - group meetings for people with mental illness to learn community living skills for recovery, enjoy arts and crafts and socialize with others; (2) Outreach & Education - monthly 1-hour round table sessions and annual conference for continuing education credits and distribution of information on mental illness through print and online media; and (3)  Operation Santa Claus - providing holiday gifts for people with mental illness who are served by the Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority and other providers.
