The Play: Visit to Cutie Pies
You will be participating in a 1st-person video and photo adventure-documentary into the remote and beautifully serene countrysides of Ukraine. Where in addition to quiet farms and families live peacefully, sits a few homes that the government wishes that no one knew existed. Homes that only have children in them. This is where children who were abandoned by their parents end up. Many of them abandoned because they have a disability and because of poverty.
The grueling journey to these homes in the remote village has broken many souls. Most people don't want to know it exists. Many people who know about it never want to visit. Some who visit change their minds and cut their stay short. Even most doctors who start their tenure here with good intentions don't end up staying long, leaving Olga, a retired dentist to do her best as the head doctor for the children.
But one person is up to the task. One girl whose life changed the last time she was there. One girl who missed the children so much that she's going back to see them again.
But this time, she will be more prepared: mentally and with a purpose. The last time, she was searching for answers. This time, she's there to show the world what she saw in the children. The beautiful children who love freely and generously. The women nurses and caregivers who raise them like their own. The homes they live in and how they live. The dream of one man, Albert Pavlov--- now Maya's friend and ally ---and how he plans to change the future of all children like Vanya, one children's home at a time. And his grand plan of a Happy Village.
Maya "killer princess" Rowencak - half Ukrainian, half Filipino. She searches to reunite with the loving soul she made friends with last year -- Vanya. Her pianist ears keep her alert and prepared, and in a bind her deadly Muay Thai knees and elbows will protect the expedition's crew and equipment.
Justine "eagle eye" Stojowski - advocate of reading and speaker of many languages, Justine will be the translator, photographer and videographer -- she will capture the adventure and transport it safely back to us
Vanya - Maya met him last year, and his love was so pure that it moved her to make the Kalinovka children and staff a part of Maya's Hope family
Your donations will help fund the equipment needed to capture the adventure in high-quality and safely bring video footage back.
We will be sharing the stories, videos and photos with the public on mayashope.org and facebook.com/mayashope, and we can mail you hard copies upon request.
