“I made a commitment to my family, friends, and to myself to never be negative or feel sorry for my misfortune.”
These were my father’s words just prior to starting chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer in March 2011. Having just undergone the Whipple surgery after being diagnosed in January, my dad unknowingly prepared for not just chemotherapy for the next six months, but yet another surgery to remove the pancreas in April 2012, along with more chemo from August 2013 to Christmas. After lots of prayer, doctor conversations, and support from family and friends, there is currently no active cancer as of this past January. The fight is not over, and my wife, Meg and I, will train and run this race in hope that one day, better detection methods and improved treatment will give those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer the same opportunity my dad has experienced. Each day is truly a gift and we support Project Purple in this cause.
Project Purple has a mission of Running To Beat Pancreatic Cancer!
