BENEFITING: MARIO LEMIEUX FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: MARIO LEMIEUX FOUNDATION
EVENT: 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon
EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
I'm running in the 2018 Pittsburgh Half-Marathon to fundraise for the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
My inspiration to support this charity is my dear friend, Dylan Rectenwald who was diagnosed two months ago with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Dylan is a patient at the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
Dylan is a courageous 26 year old aspiring musician who has continued to pursue his music career as a singer/songwriter despite enduring many tests and chemotherapy treatments. He has received incredibly compassionate and supportive world class care from the professionals at the Lemieux Center.
I'm dedicating this race to Dylan and I'd appreciate your support to raise money for this worthy charity. Your donations are 100% tax deductible and will support the Lemieux Foundation's research and treament of blood cancers
Also, and on a personal note, Dylan is an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan. The Lemieux Foundation rewards runners who raise $2500 with a jersey signed by Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin - not only 3 of the greatest Penguins of all time, but 3 of the greatest hockey players of all time. I'd ask for your help to achieve that goal so that we can give the signed jersey to Dylan - in recognition of his passion for the Pens and the inspiration he's provided to all of us who know him.
