Hello! My name is Maggie Peacock and I have spent the last 8 months as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Malaysia; where I work with secondary school students in their English classes and extracurricular activities. When I came to Malaysia I decided to marry two of my greatest passions, human trafficking awareness education and youth empowerment. I brought together American and Malaysian NGO partners to start the Students Against Slavery project. Underprivileged students from all across Sabah, Malaysia will get to meet at the state university for a "Train the Trainer" Seminar from an American guest instructor. They will be given comic books specially designed about human trafficking in Malaysia, and teachers will be given a lesson guide to aid students in their mission to spread awareness in their own schools and communities. I have raised half of the money for the project from grants, and need help to raise the remaining money to print the books for the schools involved and the partner NGOs.
Each comic book costs 25 cents to print if printed in bulk. This means if you donate $5 you provide enough books for one school. Schools across Malaysia will each get their own set, and the rest will be distributed to the most vulnerable communities where there is no access to the schools. This means for $20 you can educate an entire vulnerable community on what they can do to protect themselves from Human Trafficking. Thank you for your help in making a difference in Malaysia!
