EVENT DATE: Aug 24, 2014
THE STORY:
Hello!!
I don’t know about you, I’m not one of those big “bucket list” types of people. Yes, I have a list of things that I would like to accomplish before the end of my life, like visiting Antarctica, getting my private pilot’s license, competing in a triathlon… But I never really gave much thought nor effort into realizing these things.
Hitting the big 40 made me realize that life truly is moving way too fast and there’s no time like the present to get out there and get stuff done! Fun stuff! Exciting Stuff! Things I was always too scared/lazy/poor to do. For most of my life, I’ve never been big into physical exertion. Exercise, sweat, blech! But on August 24th, bright and early, I will don my wetsuit, ride my bike and run my little heart out! I have committed to doing my first triathlon at the Chicago Triathlon. My body (and my internist) are telling me that it’s time to get a move on and so I am easing into the sport by doing the Supersprint. It's my version of Carpe Diem/YOLO/Live Juicy!
And I figure, if I’m going to go for it, I am going to use this event to raise funds for the India Rural Evangelical Foundation (IREF). IREF, a Christian organization in rural India committed to the care and raising of 3000 orphans as well as supporting medical services for the community and fostering human development opportunities through the creation of self-help projects. Isaac and I have committed to sponsoring 2 children through this organization and we personally know the founding family and couldn't be more excited to be raising money for such a caring group of people doing such a tremendous amount of good. Please consider donating to this great cause! And even if you can't be there to cheer both Isaac and I on as we stumble through the finish line, please keep us and IREF in your hearts and prayers during our training and the triathlon itself.
Thank you! Namaste!
