Lupus Loop Pack Leader

DEADLINE TO GIVE: Aug 28, 2017
FUNDRAISER SET UP DEADLINE: Aug 28, 2017
The 22nd Annual Lupus Loop benefiting the Lupus Foundation of Pennsylvania (LFP) will take place on September 16, 2017 at Station Square in Pittsburgh. The LFP mission is to promote awareness, education, service and research for those affected by lupus.
The Lupus Loop is a fun opportunity to engage the community in a healthy way while spreading awareness about lupus. Lupus is a chronic, inflammatory disease in which the body's immune system fails to serve its normal protective functions and instead forms antibodies that attack healthy tissues and organs.
Lupus affects more than 1.5 million Americans. African Americans, Hispanics/Latinas, Asians, and Native Americas are disproportionately affected by lupus. 9 out of 10 lupus patients are women and 1 in 5 people affected are children. A lesser known fact, is that lupus can also affect dogs. Lupus is rare in dogs, but much like the humans that love them, it is suspected to be underdiagnosed.
The Lupus Loop is a 5K Run & Fun Walk with a festival feel, it is an experience, one might even call it an extravaganza - there will be vendors, activities for kids, and dogs are encouraged to participate. This year we are introducing a fun way for dogs to help with the fundraising. The dog that generates the most donations for LFP on this page will become the official 2017 LUPUS LOOP PACK LEADER. The winning dog will be leading the Fun Walk! Your dog really wants this distinguished honor and we hope that you will be able to help make their dreams come true. To participate, please create a team for your dog. Enter descriptive information and include a photo that captures your dog's inner "pack leader". Then, share the link everywhere. The dog with the most donations wins!!! Donations can be made thru August 28, 2017. No Lupus Loop Pack Leader donations collected will be applicable after that date.
